If you're a regular reader of exposingFashion.com, you know that I oppose the New York City Mayors office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting's proposal to charge a $300 New Project Application Fee for each new project seeking to shoot on New York City property and requiring a permit.

Yesterday, Advertising Photographers of America became American Photographic Artists. Though the acronym didn't change (APA), I believe this change represents an overall change in the photographic industry.
In the press release announcing the change, Stephen Best, CEO of APA, says, "The advertising photographer is now someone who might have crossed over from the fine art, editorial, catalog, or music industries".
