We’re pleased to announce that Fashion & Beauty Photographer Stephen Eastwood has signed on to be a Guest Speaker at Kevin Michael Reed’s 4-Day Intensive Fashion Photography Workshop in New York City – December 2009. Mr. Eastwood has become one of the industry’s most sought after beauty photographers. His talents have also earned him recognition by Canon in the prestigious group of his peers, the Canon Explorers of Light.

Stephen Eastwood grew up in Great Neck, Long Island and originally planned on being a laywer rather than a photographer. He attended St. John's University in Queens, majoring in Philosophy and Psychology. He entered photography in a somewhat circuitous manner as a male model who initially began shooting in order to meet more models and for the girls. Over time the playboy mentality faded and was replaced by that of photographic perfectionist and shrewd businessman. Stephen is self taught, rather than seeking out photo classes he studied issues of European, mainly English, fashion magazines. He turned professional at 25, focusing then on FHM and Maxim styled glamour and then eventually shifting more towards the worlds of fashion, beauty, and celebrity portraiture. Stephen describes his shift from Glamour to beauty as the need to stun the clients with the quality of the image not just the model's cup size, “This is why I went to commercial Beauty! I had an ego problem, I needed them to say WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! on every page! And I was sick and tired of having to shoot bigger breasts to get it and making mediocre money. Beauty has the ability to make them say WOW! WOW! WOW! they WOW at the SKIN! They WOW at the LIGHTING! The WOW at the CLOSE UPS! They WOW at the MODEL! They WOW at the MAKE UP!
But in the end every page tells a story and leaves them saying WOW! and wanting more.”
Stephen attributes his success not only to his eye and hard work but also to his ability to create images that are marketable and that successfully sell products. He knows how work with art directors to deliver exactly the kinds of images that they want and need. He understands the business and what his time and work are worth, and holds that knowledge paramount to the art.
Stephen currently lives in Queens, but splits his time between New York, Miami, and Los Angeles depending on the client. Stephen's currently shoots cosmetics and fashion campaigns, and celebrity portraiture and promotional materials. Stephen has become one of the industry's most sought after beauty photographers. His talents have also earned him recognition by Canon and inclusion in the prestigious group of his peers, the Canon Explorers of Light.
