Despite the best efforts of nearly every Film & Photo association working in New York City, the Mayors’ Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting adopted the amendment to the rules of the city requiring a $300 New Project Application Fee for all projects requiring a permit in New York City.

On June 3rd, 2010, the Mayor’s office held a hearing to hear opinions on the matter. Deputy Commissioner John Battista sat up on the stage as at least 10 different film, broadcasting and photo related organizations stepped up to the microphone to express their opposition to the proposal.

Yesterday, ASMP posted the Joint Statement that ASMP Executive Director, Eugene Mopsik, read on behalf of APA, ASMP, EP and NPPA.

Yesterday, Advertising Photographers of America became American Photographic Artists. Though the acronym didn’t change (APA), I believe this change represents an overall change in the photographic industry.
