I have been shooting Terani Couture’s catalog and advertising for a few years now.  In fact, this is the 15th project that I’ve worked on for them.  In my never-ending quest to find new opportunities to use video as a tool for my clients, we produced this Behind The Scenes video of our shoot in November 2011. This two day shoot took place at M Studio in the West Village.  M Studio is a really cool loft space with amazing views and amazing light.

The Video

This was my first experience working with Director of Photography, Ryan White, but I’m sure you’ll be seeing this talented cinematographer’s name around this blog often in the future.  Ryan shot all the video on his Canon 5D Mark II with an arsenal of lenses and a RedRock rig. I was so excited to edit his footage that after two 12 hour days, I ran back to the studio to begin editing.

The Tech Stuff

For those of you interested in some of the gear you see in the video, here’s a quick rundown:  I shot with a PhaseOne P40+ on a PhaseOne 645DF tethered to a Mac Pro. Our normal location monitor was in for service that day, so we were using an Apple Cinema Display.  All the images were captured into CaptureOne and stored on an external Mirrored RAID on the WiebeTech RTX 200-QR.  We used Speedotron strobes and the key lights were either a F.J. Westcott 7′ Octobank, a Speedotron Desisti Fresnel, or an F.J. Westcott Large soft box. We also used a 4′x6′ California Sunbounce reflector.
