Each year, we produce an image around the holidays to be email blasted our to our friends, family, colleagues, clients and prospects. If you follow the KMR brand, you’ve probably seen the image on our website, here on the blog, and probably Facebook and other social networking sites as well.

This year we chose to create a “New Years” image, rather than a holiday image… It, actually, wasn’t 100% our decision, we were so busy that we just ran out of time to get an image shot before the holidays. Oops! So, it became a New Years image that was email blasted to a few thousand of our closest friends.

The  image was captured with the PhaseOne 645DF and a PhaseOne P40+ Digital Back. The lens used was a Schneider Kreuznach LS 80mm f/2.8 Leaf Shutter Lens. The lighting equipment used was two Broncolor Scoro A4S packs and three Broncolor Pulso G heads. One head was modified with a Gridded Beauty Dish in front of the model, two heads were placed from the back at each side with 10 degree grids and shot through a Matthews 24″x36″ 1/4 Stop Silk. A home made silver reflector was used in front of the model to reflect light back onto her face from below.

For those interested, the video was shot with the Canon Rebel T2i and was passed back and forth between Jeff Fogarty (who was my assistant for the day) and myself.  We picked up the T2i a few month ago just to play around with and we don’t really have any cool gadgets just yet (like steady cams, etc), but at least it gives us the opportunity to shoot some behind the scenes stuff cheaply.  (Of course, we created my “rant video” using it as well) The screen captures of the retouching phase were captured with ScreenFlow.  The simple Motion Graphics were created using Apple Motion. The whole video was edited in Final Cut Pro.
