AirTran to offer WiFi on all flights.
It’s no secret, I fly AirTran as much as I possibly can. There’s two main reasons:
1) When I’m traveling, I want it to be as fast and easy as possible and don’t want to deal with NYC crowds at the airport (whereever I may be). AirTran’s terminals usually aren’t as crowded as Jet Blue and the other” discount carriers”, and;
2) I can’t stand small seats, crying babies and waiting in line to get on the plane. I almost always fly business class and would never charge a client for my “luxuries” (hence the discount carrier). Upgrading to Business Class with AirTran is cheap and almost always available. I buy a discount coach ticket, get to the airport an extra half hour early and, for $30 – $50, I’ve got myself a business class ticket.
My biggest complaint about flying (and I do it often) was that I’m totally out of touch. Well, now that will no longer be the case. AirTran announced today that they will be offering WiFi service on ALL AirTran flights by Summer 2009. It’s not free, but at least it’s being offered and for us busy bodies can continue to truly work.
The Pricing:
Flights under 3 hours = $9.95
Flights over 3 hours = $12.95
Handheld Devices: $7.95 regardless of flight length.
Their marketing department even created a special website for it, www.everyflight.com, where you can win a seat on every flight for a year.
I’ve always liked AirTran. I don’t need the fancy TV’s of JetBlue, I always liked Song much better anyway. I just need to have nice comfortable seats, friendly flight attendants and INTERNET. I’m sold!
