4 Day New York City Fashion Photography Workshop!!

Yes it’s back!!!  We had such a positive response to the workshop we hosted back in December, that we have decided to do another one.

Lead by award winning, Fashion & Beauty Photographer, Kevin Michael Reed, this intense four-day workshop explores the essentials of fashion photography in the studio through a series of lectures, presentations, discussion, hands on training, and shooting.  Though there is an agenda spanning 11 hours each day, this free-form workshop will take a shape of its own to accommodate the needs of all attendees.

Understanding how to communicate with your team and your model is essential to creating fashion imagery that sells fashion and lifestyles.  Through hands on shoots with agency models, with whom the group will cast, and supported by accomplished fashion stylists, makeup artists and hair stylists, attendees will explore the basic ideas, concepts, and components of fashion photography.  The basics of one-light, high-key, and experimental lighting setups will be demonstrated and explored and attendees will walk away with at least three separate fashion stories to use in their books.

Each night, the group will discuss what they learned during the shooting period and have critiques of their work from the previous day.

Guest speakers will discuss Fashion Styling, Editing your Work, and Retouching and Approaching clients through effective marketing.  As a special bonus, “The Business of Fashion Photography,” will be examined and discussed, including how to effectively market your photography, who to target with your marketing, how to estimate to win jobs, how to get the job, and how to keep your clients coming back again and again.  Attendees will walk away with a book of all the essential business and planning paperwork they will need to effectively and profitably run their business.

The workshop will take place at CaptureRoom Studios in the heart of New York City’s Garment District, just steps from the hustle and bustle of Times Square.  Attendees will have the opportunity to shoot with a PhaseOne digital back and will have access to over $150,000 in lighting equipment.

Tuition for the workshop is $1499.

Here’s what one photographer had to say about our workshop which we held in December:

“I have been a working professional for about 10 yrs and, while I always desire to learn more, I expect those moments to be rich with new information. Kevin provided a learning experience that kept me challenged and engaged throughout the entire week. The blend of theory, business and practical enables every photographer with an opportunity to strengthen upon those areas where they have greatest need.  And the guest speakers provide a variety of perspectives that reinforce the key learning points. This workshop was, hands down, the best I have taken. If you’ve got the time and the dough, do this.”

Anyone interested in learning more about this workshop or who would like to sign up, please contact Lauren Schneider at lauren@kmr-nyc.net or at 212-947-6972 x 1971.

Also,WE WILL BE HOSTING 5 MORE FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS THIS YEAR!!!  Another one in New York in Sept/Oct. if you cannot make this one, and the other 4 on location in Miami, New Orleans, Las Vegas, and on the island of Hawaii.  Anyone interested in learning more about those workshops please contact Lauren Schneider as well.

Keep your eyes open for more posts about updates for all 6 (!) of our workshops this year!!
